The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) invites commercial real estate owners and operators to join the new Commercial Real Estate Energy Alliance (CREEA) designed to promote technology that will reduce the energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions of the commercial real estate market. Here you will find information about CREEA, including its goals, subcommittees, meetings and presentations, and resources.

Many in the commercial real estate sector are looking for innovative, high-performance solutions to dramatically reduce energy expenses, environmental costs, greenhouse gases, and overall operating risk. This increased focus on energy efficiency and environmental impact has been matched by a wave of new green technologies that promise to meet the commercial real estate sector's desire for a quantum leap in the sustainability and energy performance of their buildings and businesses. To help commercial real estate companies address these issues, DOE has created CREEA—one of several alliances organized under the Commercial Building Energy Alliances which aim to improve the energy performance of commercial buildings.

CREEA membership is open to:

  • Real estate owners/operators, (e.g., offices, hospitality, non-hospital medical, shopping centers)
  • Real estate investors (e.g., real estate investment trusts, pension funds, insurers)
  • Real estate service providers and industry groups
