Real Property Asset Management (RPAM)

On February 4, 2004, the President signed Executive Order 13327, Federal Real Property Asset Management, to improve the management of real property on a Government-wide level. This order created an interagency Federal Real property Council to develop real property guidance for Government-wide application, and directed all Agencies to develop Agency Asset Management Plans to promote better asset management and the disposal of unneeded Federal properties. In conjunction with the Executive Order, a new program initiative was added to the President's Management Agenda (PMA) in February of 2004. Completion of the Real Property Asset Management Plan is a key element of this PMA initiative. DOE's Real Propery Asset Management Plan (pdf), approved by Deputy Secretary Sell in June 2005, provides the overall framework for the management of the Department's real property assets.  The Three-year Rolling Timeline (pdf) provides the strategies for implementing the Department's Asset Management Plan.
