NEW FOOD SERVICE COMING TO DOE HEADQUARTERS!

A contract has been awarded to a new food service provider for both the Forrestal and Germantown buildings. I. L. Creations, Inc., who will begin operations at Forrestal on Monday, May 11 and in Germantown in September 2009. In addition to new breakfast and lunch menus, units of Subway and Dunkin Donuts will also be coming to our Forrestal and Germantown facilities.
This new food service concept takes into consideration many of the ideas and suggestions that employees have shared, and demonstrates the Department's commitment to improving the quality of life for our Headquarters employees.
As a result of the required transition, on Friday, May 8, the Forrestal Ground Floor Snack Bar will close for the day at 9:30 a.m., and the cafeteria will close at 1:30 p.m. Subsequently, the Forrestal cafeteria will be closed from May 11 through May 29 for construction of the new food service area.
During this temporary closure, a limited selection of hot and cold menu items will be available in the Ground Floor Snack Bar during the hours indicated below:
Ground Floor Snack Bar:
Breakfast Hours: 6:45 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
Sample Breakfast Menu: Donuts, pastries, bagels,
cold cereals, hot cereals, whole fruit, eggs, pancakes
French toast, bacon, turkey sausage, bottled beverages,
juices, coffee and tea
Lunch Hours: 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Sample Lunch Menu: Assorted hot entrees, salad bar,
deli bar, assorted wraps using deli meats, soup,
Grab 'N Go salads, bottled beverages and juices,
assorted desserts

The Germantown Cafeteria is operated by Eurest Dining Services, a Division of Compass Group North America. It is located on the first floor E wing and is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. for breakfast, 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for lunch.
The coffee bar and the light snacks are open from 7:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
