A session on "Eco-Power: Taking Back the Environment" will be held on Monday, 5/24/2004, 3:30- 5:00 PM, in the Hemisphere Room, Medical Library Association (MLA) meeting (May 21-26, 2004 in Washington, D.C. http://www.mlahq.org/am/am2004/index.html).

The relationship between the environment and the health of individuals and communities is well established. The most familiar aspects of it include the health of at-risk populations, environmental justice, and promotional programs such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Active Community Environments Initiative (ACES). The relationship between a healthy environment and environmental health is also being affected by geopolitical decisions, including the potential for ecoterrorism. Presenters will examine the role of health information professionals in the new environmentalism.
