OVERVIEW
The A-Train Data Depot (ATDD) has been developed to process, archive, allow access to, visualize, analyze and correlate distributed atmospheric measurements from A-Train instruments. The ATDD portal provides easy on-line data access and services for science, applications, and educational use so that users get exactly the data they want, and not large files of data which would take much time and effort by individuals to be co-registered and refined.
What seemed to be a dust storm, blowing from Chad into Cameroon on March 24, 2009, was caught by this AIRS Near-Real-Time (NRT) false color visible imagery, and CALIPSO Vertical Feature Mask from the CALIPSO expedited browse system. Both, AIRS and CALIPSO, imageries can be easily combined into one GoogleEarth KMZ-format file, the snapshot of which is shown on the left. This combined preview is made possible because AIRS NRT is served through the GES DISC web map server (WMS), while CALIPSO expedited browse is available directly in the KMZ format. The CALIPSO expedited browse is first produced by NASA/Langley, then further processed at A-Train Data Depot into KMZ with vertical layers, and finally distributed by NASA/Langley along with the expedited browse. |
A-Train Data Depot:
- Facilitates the visibility of participating A-Train missions.
- Provides data previews through GIOVANNI.
- Provides MODIS/Aqua subsets collocated with CloudSat and MLS.
- Is a convenient access point to data from A-Train instruments.
