The Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) employs hyperspectral imaging in a push-broom fashion to observe solar backscatter radiation in the ultraviolet (UV1: 264 - 311 nm; UV2: 307 - 383 nm) and visible (349 - 504 nm). These measurements are used to derive column amounts of O3 (total and troposphere), BrO, NO2, HCHO, OClO, and SO2, as well as ozone profiles. OMI will also measure cloud layer pressure, aerosols (absorption and total optical depth and single scattering albedo), and UV-B fluxes. Spatial coverage is global (~15 orbits per day), with a 2600 km orbit swath width in the global viewing mode, and 750 km swath width in the zoom-in mode. Spatial resolution at nadir is 13 x 24 km for nominal observations, and 13 x 12 km for zoomed observations.

The data are grouped by Processing Level, and the link in the "Level" column below will take you to a page listing available data products.

Additional Resources

Documentation and software for the various OMI data products are available. Additionally, we maintain a list of links to sites outside the GES DAAC related to atmospheric chemistry.

Aura HIRDLS and MLS data products are available from the GES DISC. Data from the Nimbus-7 and EP TOMS instruments (Nov. 1978 - Dec. 1994 and July 1996 - Dec. 2005) are also available.
