Saugusbank, Saugus, Massachusett, has contacted the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to report that counterfeit cashier's checks bearing the institution's routing number and address are in circulation. The counterfeit items display the routing number 211370697, which is assigned to Saugusbank. The counterfeit items are dissimilar to authentic checks. They display the name US Bank along with an address and a telephone number not associated with Saugusbank in top-left corner. The words "Cashier's Check" appear in the top center. Saugusbank's authentic checks are issued as treasurer's checks and display the words "TREASURER'S CHECK" in the center area. The checks display a security feature statement embedded within the top border and along the bottom border between two padlock icons. Copies of a counterfeit item and an authentic check (VOID) are attached for your review. Be aware that the appearance of counterfeit items can be modified and that additional variations may be presented.
