Behind the Scenes Preservation at Fort Scott.
To paraphrase The Beatles: they’re fixing holes where the rain gets in. Crews have completed the first phase of a three-year effort to preserve two dozen historic buildings that once housed the command center for San Francisco Bay’s coastal defenses. The behind the scenes preservation work will secure Fort Winfield Scott, a beautiful campus near the Golden Gate Bridge toll plaza, until a new purpose animates the historic barracks and parade ground.
