Sandra L. Thompson,

Division of Supervision and Consumer Protection
Sandra Thompson is
the Director of the FDIC’s Division of Supervision and Consumer
Protection (DSC) where she directs risk management and consumer
protection examination activities relating to approximately 5200 FDIC
supervised institutions. She oversees approximately 2,500 employees
located in 84 territories and 6 regional offices around the nation. Ms.
Thompson also represents the FDIC on the Federal Financial Institutions
Examination Council Task Force on Supervision.
Ms. Thompson
previously served as the FDIC’s Deputy to the Vice Chairman and led the
Corporation's Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering and Financial
Crimes supervisory activities. As head of the FDIC’s Electronic Banking
Branch, Ms. Thompson expanded and modernized the Agency’s Information
Technology Supervisory processes. Ms. Thompson previously served as the
Director of Securitization for the Resolution Trust Corporation and was
responsible for issuing over $41 billion in mortgage-backed securities.
Prior to joining the FDIC in 1990, Ms. Thompson was an associate at
Goldman Sachs & Co. in New York City. She holds a degree in Finance
from Howard University.
