    Alaska
    Anchorage Children can become a park ranger for a day by participating in hands-on activities sponsored by Anchorage Promise with the Alliance of Youth and the Anchorage School District. April 25

    Bering Land Bridge National Preserve Junior Ranger Field Day - Participants go to Safety Sound for a day of marine exploration, learning about coastal environment and ocean health. Brief lessons with fun, healthy, active activities included. July 31

    Denali National Park and Preserve Junior Ranger Day is celebrated at the local school in conjunction with a Health Fair and an Earth Day event. Naturalist activities and take home projects to promote sustainable, earth friendly actions provided. April 25

    Kenai Fjords National Park National Park Week - Artists and rangers visit classrooms in Seward, the park’s gateway community. About 300 students work with an array of artistic media presented by local artists to create works that can be entered into the park's annual art show. The show, themed Caring for our Coasts-Ocean Stewardship in Kenai Fjords National Park, displays in the park's Information Center, May 9-19. April 20-24

    Arizona
    Canyon de Chelly National Monument National Park Week - Join a Ranger or park volunteer for cowboy coffee, 8:30-9:30 a.m. daily at the ramada outside the Visitor Center. Explore park trails and sites with a 3- or 4-hour Ranger-guided hike; space limited. Hikes start at 7:45 and 8:30. Route information and sign up at the Visitor Center. April 18-26
      Earth Day Litter Patrol - All day at the North and South Rim overlooks and along two trails with authorized guides. Volunteer for work along the rims, the Tunnel Trail to Rock Art Sites, 8:30-11:30 a.m. or the Twin Trails, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sign up at Visitor Center. April 18
      National Park Week Just for Kids - Daily programs include history talks, bird watching, litter patrol, wildlife review, walks and hikes. Ranger presentations at the Campground Amphitheater; Monday-Thursday, 6-7 p.m. April 20-24
      Junior Ranger Day - Complete an activity sheet, available at the Visitor Center, to earn a badge, a 15% discount and free book from the bookstore.
    Family Hike – Hike with a Park Ranger from White House Trail to Tunnel Trail; 7:45-11:45 a.m. Recommended for parents with children ages up to 12 years old. Sign up at Visitor Center; limit 30 people.

    Casa Grande Ruins National Monument Junior Ranger Day - Earn an official Casa Grande Ruins Junior Ranger badge and certificate by completing Junior Ranger activities. Activities include a 10 a.m. park tour, ranger-led programs, games, puzzles, visits to the Great House, the ball court and the museum exhibits in the visitor center. Free admission for Junior Ranger program participants and their families. April 25

    Coronado National Memorial Junior Ranger Day - Hike one mile and explore a natural limestone cave; 10 a.m. April 25

    Grand Canyon National Park Earth Day - 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Market Plaza on April 22. April 22
      Junior Ranger Day - Kid-friendly programs and activities; 11 a.m., 2 p.m. Family programs and fun opportunities to learn more about what rangers do; 1-4 p.m. at Canyon View Information Plaza.     Hot Springs National Park Junior Ranger Day - Living History program. Interact with living historians portraying scenes from the past: a 1921 park ranger, visitors taking the baths and local residents. April 25

    Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site Junior Ranger Day - Join park rangers from 10 a.m.-noon at the Visitor Center on a Scavenger Hunt to learn about the Little Rock Nine and the 1957 crisis and have an opportunity to become Junior Rangers; ages 9-12. April 25

    Manzanar National Monument 40th annual Manzanar Pilgrimage - Former internees, families, friends and a growing number of young people gather at the Manzanar cemetery to remember, honor and carry the lessons of this experience into the future.
