What the FDIC Ombudsman Can Do
The OO assists
FDIC-supervised and insured financial institutions and the public by:
- identifying relevant authority and resources
- bringing parties together to clarify the issues
- helping parties to explore options for agreement and solutions
- providing informal mediation services for bankers with regulatory problems

The OO also provides assistance with:
Supervisory Appeals: |
The OO can explain and, as appropriate, assist institutions with questions or concerns related to appeals of material supervisory determinations. |
Inquiries: |
The OO answers questions about FDIC policies and procedures and concerns regarding open or closed bank matters. |
Complaints: |
The OO assists with complaints regarding FDIC operations, employees, and contractors. |
Referrals: |
The OO can refer issues, directly or confidentially, to FDIC subject matter experts in the appropriate division or office. |
