Q.Do you have any information to help me protect myself from online fraud or other scams?
A.The FDIC produced an online presentation called Don't Be an On-line Victim: How to Guard Against Internet Thieves and Electronic Scams. This will provide a good background on the steps you can take to prevent becoming a victim of financial fraud. We also provide a site called Consumer Alerts which provides information and links to on "phishng" scams and ID theft.
 
Q.Do you have any Web sites to help me learn to manage my money?
A.The FDIC presents an award-winning financial literacy program called Money Smart, a training program to help adults outside the financial mainstream enhance their money skills and create positive banking relationships. We also have Web pages addressing specific issues such as: Looking for the Best Mortgage, Certificates of Deposit: Tips for Savers, and Safe Internet Banking.
 
Q.Do you have any financial help publications?
A.The FDIC has a quarterly publication called FDIC Consumer News that provides practical guidance on how to become a smarter, safer user of financial services. Each issue offers helpful hints, quick tips, and common-sense strategies to protect and stretch your hard-earned dollars.
 
Q.How can I ask the FDIC a question or complain about an issue?
A.The Customer Assistance Online Form allows users to submit a question or complaint about an issue or a specific financial institution.
 
Q.Where can I learn more about my privacy rights?
A.The FDIC provides three Web pages with information on your financial privacy rights. Privacy Choices has contact information and describes the type of notices you might receive. Your Rights to Financial Privacy describes the privacy protection laws that apply to consumers. Financial Privacy... Our Answers to Your Questions uses a question and answer format to let you know what you can do to secure your privacy rights.
