First Step to Active Health Logo

The First Step to Active Health® provides an evidence-based, progressive physical activity program for older adults. The goal of the program is to improve health and functional ability, to promote independence, and to help prevent chronic disease and disability in adults over age 50. The program includes a step-by-step approach to improve physical abilities with a variety of simple activities, including cardio/aerobic, flexibility, strength, and balance activities. The First Step to Active Health patient education kit was developed by THERA-BAND® products as part of the Active Aging Toolkit, which was designed to assist healthcare providers in prescribing physical activity programs for their patients. The Toolkit was developed in support of the National Blueprint to Increase Physical Activity Among Adults Aged 50 and Older with input and review from Educational Partners including the AAP, ACSM, AGS, AAFP, and APTA.

By providing motivational awards and activity logs, The President's Challenge is an important Educational Partner in the Active Aging Toolkit and First Step to Active Health.
