Be Active North Carolina, Inc.

To create real change, Be Active North Carolina (BANC) will address the challenges of social, political, cultural, environmental, organizational and interpersonal influences that mold a person’s habits regarding physical activity. BANC will focus on three primary areas: People, Programs and Policies. BANC will reach people by increasing public awareness and media attention, building grassroots advocacy and an effective volunteer network. BANC will advocate for policies that will reduce barriers and create opportunities for physical activity. Finally, BANC will promote the following programs: Be Active Kids, an award winning program which teaches 4 and 5 year olds about nutrition, physical activity and food safety, Active Steps Youth Program, a pedometer based program that will motivate students, grades 1-12, to move more and encourage students to set activity goals, Active Steps, a walking program that utilizes a pedometer to motivate individuals of all ages to increase their level of physical activity, and the Active Blue Van, this specially designed van will appear at family and community events through the year promoting health and physical activity.

Martial Arts of Murphy

The mission of Martial Arts of Murphy is to provide quality martial arts to our community, while building character, integrity, confidence, courage, and improving and/or enhancing overall quality of life.

We run a complete martial arts program, which commences with a of period warmup exercises followed by line drills to hone reflexology and cardio training, followed by general martial arts training. We also have a competition team which travels through the region and nationally. These students also have other fitness requirements tailored to the student, including weights and running. We promote our program through our web site, highly visible location, and news releases. Our fitness challenge is open to family members of all students.

Resources for Seniors, Inc. provides home and community based services so that seniors and disabled adults can maximize their independence for as long as possible while remaining in their homes.  We are committed to excellence in service and care for individuals, families, and their communities.

Resources for Seniors, Inc., Senior Centers have planned a number of special activities for the 50th Anniversary of PCPFS.  These activities include the: Heart Healthy Fitness Challenge (a three-month program), Fit and Strong Program for Osteoarthritis, and on-going multi-component fitness classes that have been added as a result of our recent research study for the National Council on the Aging – Best Practices in Physical Activities for Senior Adults.  These activities will be promoted to over 5,000 senior adults at our Golden Jubilee - Baby Boomer and Senior Expo that will be held in May, 2006.

The Southeast Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine consists of 1200 students and professionals practicing clinical medicine, research, education and an array of health and fitness disciplines. Members work in clinical settings, research laboratories, classrooms and fitness facilities to advance health through science, education and medicine.

The Southeast Chapter supports various initiatives to promote fitness and health through physical activity including educational meetings, newsletters and lecture tours. A highlight in 2006 is the chapter’s Annual Meeting to be held February 9-11 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Starpoint would like to promote the 50th anniversary of the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports on our advertising screens, which are located in Golds Gyms in North and South Carolina. In addition, we would like to use the content on the website to draw attention to the screens, as they are in gyms and it is health related content.

Through her nationally broadcasted fitness television show Vessel Fitness, Desiree’s goal is to encourage and empower people to a lifestyle transformation achieved through hard work, sheer determination and sweat.  Desiree instructs and assists the viewers that through fitness and strength conditioning everyone can have a healthier, vibrant and active life.

Desiree plans to promote The President's Challenge, a program of the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports through the avenues of on air promotion within the body of the television show, closing credit promotion, at her upcoming speaking engagements, as well as promotion on the Vessel Fitness website, www.vesselfitness.com.
