911 Fitness, Inc.

Contact: Jim Sayih

E-mail: Jim@911Fitness.com

Website: www.911Fitness.com

911 Fitness promotes and integrates education, and practical applications of fundamental exercise to maintain and enhance physical performance, fitness, health, and quality of life for police officers, firefighters and the general public.  Due to the chaotic nature of the Police and Fire profession, a unique approach is necessary to facilitate practical fitness programs to meet each person's goals. Their demanding, often hazardous schedules, compounded by everyday stresses, make it difficult to adhere to traditional exercise curriculums. Therefore, 911 Fitness aims to disclose the tools necessary to develop healthier, stronger public servants.

Once a year, 911 Fitness promotes a National Fitness Challenge for Police & Firefighters to lose fat and gain muscle in 12-weeks.

The team with the best results within their region wins $5,000.  Each region will have a winning team.  The Challenge has an 8 year history of transforming the bodies of thousands of police & firefighters.

911 Fitness will promote "Get Moving" by encouraging the competitors to get their families involved by visiting the President's website and taking a proactive role in their community.  We will include the President's Mission inside the Welcome kit each of our competitors receive.  We can also include a link to your website, next to our on-line registration section.

Express Train Fitness for Men Logo

Express Train Fitness for Men is dedicated to providing men a complete Fitness & Health program that is easily incorporated into today’s busy lifestyles. Our program is designed to get men moving and taking stock of their fitness and lifestyle habits that are contributing to the increases in obesity, heart disease and other related issues plaguing men today. Our goal is simple -  show men how to exercise and achieve their fitness goals while making small changes in their lifestyles that will put them on a continued track of increased health and wellness.

Express Train Fitness for Men will promote the President’s Challenge by encouraging our local communities to get involved in health and fitness through sponsored events. Although we are geared towards men’s health in particular, we have developed a relationship with women’s fitness centers to educate everyone on the benefits of proper exercise and nutrition. We are in the process of planning a local Health Fair to educate and encourage participation in physical activities as well as to provide education on health and nutrition.

Our members will become “ambassadors” to spread the “Get Moving” program to family and friends across America.

Faith in Action

Contact: Joe Sutsko, Executive Director

E-mail: fiaup@knology.net

Website: http://fiaup.org

Faith in Action of Upper Pinellas, Inc. (FIAUP), a not-for-profit, non-sectarian agency, has been serving the area’s older adults and persons with disabilities since 1995.  The FIAUP mission is to assist with services that enable the care receivers to remain independent in their own homes and remain connected to the community.  FIAUP serves Upper Pinellas County communities including Largo, Safety Harbor, Clearwater, Dunedin, Palm Harbor and Tarpon Springs without restriction to age, income, race, religion, national origin, language, sex, sexual preference or physical handicap. The primary providers of the services are volunteers, neighbors helping neighbors in need of assistance.

Faith in Action, Strong For Life will continue to promote physical activity by engaging even larger numbers of elderly and young-old in our community to be involved in our muscle-strengthening program, but more specifically The President’s Challenge.

We will continue to inform and educate our community in regards to sarcopenia (muscle wasting) in the elderly and the untreated outcome that this condition will have on the quality of life and independence of our seniors.

We will use various forms of media to get the word out including local as well as independent televisions stations who will have the option of re-airing previously shown tapes on muscle strengthening and the elderly, or attempt to integrate segments of previously aired videos with additional footage on The President’s Challenge.  We will document recent articles on muscle-strengthening taken from NIA, The President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports and NIH to include in press releases, and our ongoing muscle-strengthening programs will be invited to take The President’s Challenge with their friends and neighbors.

We will continue with our on-going efforts to enlist more groups--churches, civic organizations, local businesses and the health community at large. One newsletter will be entirely devoted to The President’s Challenge and the people, places and things which will motivate, assist and empower our community to make choices to assist them on their journey to be reintegrated and powerful members of our community.

We hope to further engage our youth groups in intergenerational outreach to our home-bound elderly. Local youth groups who participate in assisting the elderly as part of their  community service projects will be invited to buddy-up with someone to help monitor activities or document the activities on their computers for those seniors who aren't computer savvy or who do not own a computer.
