The National Safe Surfacing Initiative® (NSSI) partners with government agencies to improve the safety and ADA accessibility of outdoor play and fitness environments for young children, aiding in the development of both the strength and confidence of our youth as well as building life long patterns of healthy activity through the use of the only rubber tile safety surfacing proven to reduce serious injuries in playgrounds.

Childhood fitness begins at an early age when young people first start out to challenge their minds and bodies in ways that require both mental and physical fortitude. Through the National Safe Surfacing Initiative; communities, child care centers and elementary schools are able to provide healthier play and fitness environments for young children, preparing them for more physical challenges in the years ahead. Through the use of NSSI certified safety surfacing, we will continue to improve the safety and accessibility of outdoor play and fitness environments, and promote the fundamentals of play and fitness in early childhood.

In addition, after school programs such as ACES and KLUB have added physical activity components that encourage life long fitness and enable students to reach the recommended 60 minutes of daily activity.
