New to the Collections
New to the Collections is a feature that generates a list of materials recently added to
the NLM Library Collections.
Items that are New to the Collections:
- may not yet be available for public use
- may not be recently published since NLM purchases historical materials
- may be items that the Library already owns that were acquired for a different collection,
i.e., an item already in the General Collection recently acquired for the History of Medicine
(HMD) Collection
- may include serials that were selected and assigned a call number but the Library has not yet received issues
If you click Search without choosing any options or typing a keyword, you will receive a list of

Search for keyword or phrase in title, author or call number: (optional): Refine your results
list by entering a title word, an author name, or a call number. Searching tips:
- Title: Enter one or more words that must appear in the title. Searches will retrieve
strings within words as well as words within phrases (e.g. 'herb' will also retrieve 'herbs' and
'herbal'). You can enter a phrase but Boolean searching, using "AND", "OR", "NOT" to combine terms,
is not available. Do not use truncation symbols in a New to the Collections search.
- Author: Enter last name only, "Last name, First initial" or "Last Name, First Name"
- Call number: Enter as much of the Call Number as you know. You can enter a single letter, for
example 'W', but your searches will be more accurate if you enter a longer call number with
the correct spacing.
