"Providing care to those living
with HIV/AIDS must include housing. This Administration is committed
to helping these families not only find a home but receive the services
they need to maintain their quality of life."
-Secretary Mel Matrinez
The theme for this year's World
AIDS Campaign is "Live and Let Live" as coordinated
by the United Nations joint Programme on HIV/AIDS.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development has been a leader
in helping people to cope with and the problems associated with
the disease. Through the Housing
Opportunities for People With AIDS (HOPWA) program HUD grants
money to state and local governments and public service grantees
to meet a variety of needs of people and families living with HIV/AIDS.
