New Training Opportunities Coming Soon

Below is a listing of upcoming HUD-PIH sponsored training opportunities planned for PHA & HUD staff. Dates and time are subject to change.

  1. September 23, 2009; 1-5pm, EST - Clarification and Guidance on Refinement of Income and Rent Rule
    • Training Objective: Provide clarifying guidance on this final rule (effective 09/30/09) to assist PHAs with successful implementation of new HUD requirements
    • Targeted Audience: Program Administrators of the Public Housing (PH) and Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) programs, HUD staff, and PH & HCV tenants
    • Registration not required to view via webcast
    • Registration information for "live session" will be posted to website on 08/17/09
    • Certificate of Completion (for HUD & PHA staff) will be provided by HUD
  2. December 15, 2009; 1-5pm, EST - Updated PIH-EIV System Training
    • Training Objective: Provide guidance on new EIV system functions
    • Targeted Audience: All Program Administrators of the Public Housing (PH) and Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) programs who use the PIH-EIV system, and all HUD staff
    • Registration not required to view via webcast
    • Registration information for "live session" will be posted to website on 11/02/09
    • Certificate of Completion (for HUD & PHA staff) will be provided by HUD

Note: This training will be mandatory for all PIH-EIV system users. Training will be offered via webcast as well as in person at HUD Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

February 9, 2009

A Federal Register Notice relating to the Refinement of Income and Rent Rule (Final Rule published on January 27, 2009) is scheduled to be published in the Federal Register this week. However, Secretary Donovan's team has requested that this notice be shared with the public now. This notice seeks comment on whether the effective date of the Refinement of Income and Rent rule should be extended and addresses questions received subsequent to the posting of the rule on 01/27/09. Upcoming EIV System and Security Awareness training opportunity

When: Wednesday, February 11, 2009 & Thursday, February 12, 2009

Where: HUD Headquarters, 451 7th Street, SW, 1st Floor, Brooke-Mondale Auditorium, Suite C, Washington, DC 20410

Time: 1PM – 5PM, Eastern Standard Time – each day

Number of Available Seats: 250

Reserve your seat now by completing and submitting the Registration Form, no later than 4pm, EST on Friday February 6, 2009. You do not need to register for this training event if you plan to view it via webcast.

The training will also be available via webcast. View the Training Agenda. You may request a Certificate of Completion beginning Friday, February 13, 2009. The request form will be posted on this website on February 12, 2009.


October 24, 2008

On October 16, 2008, the Social Security Administration (SSA) announced 5.8 percent benefit increase for 2009. The 5.8 percent Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) will begin with benefits that Social Security (SS) beneficiaries receive in January 2009. Increased payments to Supplemental Security Income (SSI) beneficiaries will begin on December 31, 2008. PHAs should include this planned increase in income during the processing of annual or interim reexams that will be effective January 1, 2009 or later. View the 2009 Social Security Fact Sheet.
