Issue: Periodic training with prison agents, so that they are skilled at acting orientating convicts towards Sexual Diseases/AIDS concerns. Project: Objective is training prison agents, so that they can be "multiplying information" individuals on Sexual Diseases/AIDS, thus make them able to act at prevention as well as recognise signs and symptoms of main infections related to Sexual Diseases/AIDS in order to indicate convicts to Health System staff. In this way, firstly we did a pre-test with 114 agents, based on a questionnaire which aimed realising their knowledge level of the theme. Results: The performed pre-test revealed: 7% of all answers, Sexual Diseases do not co-operate with other diseases to occur; 11% HIV infection happens only by sexual intercourse with travestites; 24% blooddonors may be infected by HIV; 5% the following circumstances contribute to HIV transmission: kisses on the mouth, mosquitoes attacks, sleeping in the same room, sharing glasses, dishes, pools, saunas and clothes; 24,77% the use of prophylatics is indicated to male bisexuals, only; 35% defined AIDS as equal to non-progressive HIV patients; 46% ELISA test identifies the virus, not the anti-bodies; 19% all convicts should be submitted to HIV serology. According to all answers to the question about knowledge sources, we had the following scores: 75 answers: from TV; 45 from radio; 82 from newspapers; 52 from Health System staff; 47 from informal talks; 46 from speeches and leaflets; 39 from friends; and 06 from other sources. Lessons Learned: It is clear that training to the prison agents ought to be regular and systematized, mainly in order to extinguish mythical images shown in the media.
