The High Resolution Dynamics Limb Sounder (HIRDLS) measures infrared emissions in 21 channels ranging from 6.12 to 17.76 mm in the upper troposphere, stratosphere and mesosphere. These measurements are used to derive vertical profiles of O3, H2O, CH4, N2O, NO2, HNO3, N2O5, CFC11, CFC12, aerosols, and atmospheric temperature, as well as the locations of polar stratospheric clouds and cloud tops. The vertical resolution of these data is about 1 km, and the spatial coverage is near-global (-64° to +80°), with each profile spaced about 100 km along the orbit track.

The data are grouped by Processing Level, and the link in the "Level" column below will take you to a page listing available data products.

Product Level Description Begin Date End Date Number of Items
L2 Daily level 2 geolocated geophysical parameter data products at full instrument resolution in the HDF-EOS5 (swath model) file format. PARAMETER and/or SPATIAL SUBSETTING is available. 2005-01-22 00:00:20 2008-01-02 23:59:51 2037

Additional Resources

Documentation and software for the various HIRDLS data products are available. Additionally, we maintain a list of links to sites outside the GES DAAC related to atmospheric chemistry.

Aura OMI and MLS data products are available from the GES DISC.
