We need your help to promote the Act Against AIDS campaign!
Issue
Every 9 ½ minutes a person in the United States becomes infected with HIV.
Goal
The Act Against AIDS campaign is designed to contribute to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) goal of reducing HIV incidence in the United States.
And, the Act Against AIDS campaign features targeted messages and outreach to the populations most severely affected by the disease.
How You Can Help
- Web Badge -- Promote HIV awareness by adding an Act Against AIDS Web badge to your website – just copy the html code below and paste it into your site after 1:00 p.m. (EDT), Tuesday April 7.

- Blog about the event, or read Federal blogs on the campaign. Kevin Fenton, director of the CDC’s National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention will be blogging, as will AIDS.gov.
- Twitter – If you are on Twitter, please follow and re-tweet from the CDC Twitter account or from the AIDS.gov Twitter account.
- All tweets related to this event should use a standard hashtag for the event (#AAAIDS).
- All tweets will reference other organizations (with @) as appropriate.
- If possible, refer followers to www.nineandahalfminutes.org or 1-800-CDC-INFO (both 1-800-CDC-INFO and 1-800-232-4636 or cdcinfo@cdc.gov) for additional information.
- Try to limit tweets to 120 characters, including the #AAAIDS hashtag, to promote retweeting.
- Watch the White House webcast and link to it if it’s live – please check to see if we were able to webcast the event on the AIDS.gov homepage and either watch it live or review the event.
- Link to PSAs and podcasts – PSAs and podcasts of the event will be on both the CDC and HHS Youtube channels, but you can go to www.nineandahalfminutes.org to link or view.
