Does the GMC Do?The Grants Management Center (GMC) is an internal service
organization within the Office of Public and Indian Housing (PIH) that supports
individual PIH programs, such as the Housing Choice Voucher-Family Self Sufficiency,
the ROSS Public Housing Family Self-Sufficiency, Elderly/Persons with Disabilities,
Family and Homeownership and the Neighborhood Networks programs. The
goal of the GMC is to provide efficient, timely and accurate methods for processing,
reviewing and awarding of PIH Categorical grant applications. Established
in 1998, the GMC has processed over 19,000 applications, providing over 50,000
grants (totaling over $33.1 billion) that support the Office of Public and Indian
Housing's (PIH) mission of ensuring safe, decent and affordable housing; creating
opportunities for residents' self-sufficiency and economic success/independence,
and the fiscal integrity of all program participants.
