Chemical and Pathogenic Contaminant Exposure: Arsenic

Arsenic occurs in the environment naturally and to a lesser degree by anthropogenic sources and activities. The current USEPA drinking water standard for arsenic (Maximum Contaminant Level) is 10 µg/L.

U.S. Geological Survey research on arsenic ranges from environmental and drinking water occurrence studies to detailed investigations on fate, transport and basic geochemistr y as well as collaborative work with the human-health community. y.
