An important key to success in today's fast-paced environment is an understanding of technology. Technology opens the door to increasing opportunity. One of the biggest disparities in many American cities is the level of technological knowledge found in low-income communities versus more affluent neighborhoods. A lack of access to technology and computer training in impoverished urban areas accounts for much of this disparity. Government and private industry have proposed several measures to address what has become known as the "digital divide".

Please access the web sites listed on this page to learn more about these measures, and to read about programs introduced into communities around the country that attempt to bridge the digital divide.
