Radiation and Indoor Environments Laboratory

The Center for Indoor Environments, located within the Radiation and Indoor Environments National Laboratory (R&IE), is a multi-disciplinary Center providing training and technical support in the program areas of radon, indoor environments, and ambient monitoring quality assurance. Scientific and technical staff provide support to the Tribal Air Monitoring Support (TAMS) Center; this provides technical support to tribal communities for air monitoring, both ambient and indoor. The Center also has the Radon Laboratory which provides technical assistance to federal, state, and local government radon programs and to the private radon community by use of it’s Environmental Radon Chamber, associated support systems, and a Charcoal Canister Analytical System. Lastly, Center staff assists the Office of Air Quality, Planning, and Standards in PM related quality assurance activities.
