Lake

federal campus lake

A central part of the 511-acre federal campus is a lake shared with the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS). The man-made lake was designed and built by NIEHS, but EPA is committed to maintaining its water quality.

A wide variety of fish and wildlife - from Great Blue Herons to Beaver - thrive in the habitat provided by the lake and its adjacent forest and meadows.
