On Thursday, August 6, Neighborhood Networks observes Know Your
Neighbors Day as part of Neighborhood Networks Week 2009 (August
3 - 8). On Know Your Neighbors Day, centers are encouraged to host
events that strengthen the bonds of neighbors to build stronger
communities. To observe this day, centers may choose to host community
events, such as block parties, potlucks, barbecues, festivals, or
open houses.
The Neighborhood
Networks Week Event Planning Guide offers a variety of event
ideas and tips for planning a successful Know Your Neighbors Day
event. A copy of the guide will be available soon to be downloaded from the Neighborhood
Networks Web site, or you can request a copy by calling the Neighborhood
Networks Information Center toll-free at (888) 312-2743. The hearing
impaired may access the number via TTY by calling the Federal Information
Relay Service at (800) 877-8339.
