UPCOMING MEETING: The next regularly scheduled commission meeting will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 1:30 pm at the Portland State Office Building. The agenda for the meeting will be posted on the website on or about September 9th.

Oregon Racing Commission
Mission
The Mission of the Oregon Racing Commission is to regulate and to facilitate all aspects of the pari-mutuel industry in the State of Oregon for the benefit of the citizenry, the licensees, the participants and the State of Oregon.

The Oregon Racing Commission was established in 1933 as part of the Pari-Mutuel Wagering Act and has the authority to regulate horse and greyhound racing in the State of Oregon.

The Oregon Lottery and casino gambling are regulated by other agencies.

The 13th Annual Northwest Stewards and Judges Continuing Education Seminar and Roundtable will be held Tuesday, September 30 and Wednesday, October 1, 2008, at the Holiday Inn - Portland Airport located in Portland, Oregon.
Hearing on Oregon Administrative Rules - Chapter 462
After a thorough review of the Oregon Administrative Rules, Chapter 462 - Rules of Racing, the commission held a rules hearing on August 21, 2008. The commission has extended the period for receipt of written public comment on the proposed rule amendments to September 4, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. The commission will take action on the proposed rules at their regularly scheduled meeting on September 18, 2008.
