Written Examination Changes!
MBLEx - Massage & Bodywork Licensing Exam exclusive as of July 1, 2008!
Effective July 1, 2008 all applicants for licensure must have taken and passed the MBLEx administered by the states via the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards. Applicants who have taken and passed a previously accepted board approved written exam prior to July 1, 2008 may submit proof of passing in lieu of the MBLEx requirement.

Proposed Rules Adoption postponed until January 1, 2009!
Over the past 3 years the OBMT Rules Committee has conducted a comprehensive review of both Oregon Revised Statutes and Administrative Rules governing massage. This review was done to increase readability, update terminology and streamline processes.
August 22, 2008 Hearing Cancelled
New Public Rules Hearing scheduled for 9:00 am on September 19, 2008!
As a result of the feedback received on the proposed changes and the Board's committment to try and limit rules changes to January 1st and July 1st, the OBMT has extended the comment period. In addition, the OBMT will hold a second public hearing on the proposed changes. This hearing will be held at 9:00am on September 19, 2008 at the OBMT office in Salem. The office is located at 748 Hawthorne Ave NE, Salem OR, 97301.

Anyone interested in providing written feedback or testimony on the proposed changes may due so until the close of the public hearing on September 19, 2008.

October Board meeting at Lane Community College in Eugene!
The October Board meeting will be held on October 24th at Lane Community College in Eugene and will be proceeded by the third and final "Free CE" course of the year as well as a "Brown Bag Q&A with the Board".

The CE course topic is "Ethics" and will be taught by Patty Glenn, OBMT Executive Director. This class will begin at 9:00 am and conclude at 11:50 am. The class is free but registration is required. Please contact Crystal Quatier by email at crystal.quatier@state.or.us or by phone at 503-365-8657x6. This course qualifies for 3 Oregon contact CE.

The Brown Bag Q&A with the Board will go from noon to 12:50 pm. This is your opportunity to sit face to face with OBMT Board members/staff and have your questions answered.

The OBMT Board Meeting will commence at 1:00pm and end at the conclusion of the agenda. The agenda will be available approximatly 2 weeks before the meeting.
