Family Health Insurance Assistance Program (FHIAP) outreach specialists regularly visit employers and employee groups to explain how this premium assistance program can help working Oregonians afford health insurance.

FHIAP pays up to 95 percent of the employee's share of the monthly premium for insurance.

This means that if an employer doesn't pay all the costs of insurance for employees and dependents, a FHIAP subsidy may be used to add the uninsured employee or any uninsured family members to the medical-dental plan at work. This assumes that the employer plan meets a minimum benefit level known as the benchmark.

For employers with part-time employees who aren't eligible for health benefits or for uninsured businesses, FHIAP subsidies still may be used to help employees purchase individual health insurance.

Employees and/or dependents must be uninsured for six months and meet income guidelines to qualify for a FHIAP subsidy.

To schedule a visit: Call 1-888-564-9669, ext. 85244 (Toll-free in Oregon). Tell the person at this extension that you would like someone to visit your business and explain FHIAP in more detail.
