In 2007 in the Nation’s nonmetropolitan counties, most (77.0 percent) of the 762,782 arrestees were males.
Males accounted for 83.7 percent of all persons arrested for violent crimes and for 77.9 percent of all persons arrested for property crimes in nonmetropolitan counties.
In nonmetropolitan counties, males were most often arrested for driving under the influence (111,183) and drug abuse violations (71,539); females were most often arrested for driving under the influence (26,934) and drug abuse violations (18,939).
