The Molecular Genetics laboratory at the Dale Bumpers National Rice Research Center conducts genetic analysis of disease resistance for improvement of U.S. long grain germplasm.  Current projects include mapping genes conferring sensitivity to the phytotoxin produced by Rhizoctonia solani, the causal agent of Sheath Blight, and identification of germplasm resistant to rice grain smuts and mapping the corresponding genes.
