  • Persons under the age of 25 accounted for 37.6 percent of persons arrested in nonmetropolitan counties in 2005.
  • Persons under the age of 25 comprised 36.9 percent of arrestees for violent crime and 52.5 percent of arrestees for property crime.
  • Juveniles (persons under 18 years of age) comprised 8.8 percent of arrestees in nonmetropolitan counties in 2005.
  • In 2005, juveniles accounted for 23.4 percent of arrestees for motor vehicle theft, 21.5 percent of arrestees for burglary, 15.3 percent of arrestees for forcible rape, and 11.7 percent of arrestees for robbery offenses in nonmetropolitan counties.
  • In 2005, 70.4 percent of persons arrested for violating liquor laws and 23.5 percent of those arrested for drug abuse violations in nonmetropolitan counties were under 21 years of age.
