  • In 2005, the number of males arrested for violent crime in nonmetropolitan counties decreased 0.5 percent compared with 2004 data; the number of females arrested for violent crime in nonmetropolitan counties increased 4.1 percent.
  • In the 2-year period (2004+2005), the number of juveniles (persons under 18 years of age) arrested for violent crime in nonmetropolitan counties increased. The number of juvenile males arrested increased 3.4 percent, and the number of juvenile females arrested increased 1.5 percent.
  • Males and females were arrested more often for property crime in nonmetropolitan counties in 2005 than in the previous year with increases of 1.2 percent and 3.8 percent, respectively.
  • In nonmetropolitan counties, juveniles were arrested less often for property crime in 2005 than in the previous year with a 6.9-percent decrease in arrests of juvenile males and a 5.1-percent decrease in arrests of juvenile females.
  • The number of females arrested for driving under the influence in nonmetropolitan counties decreased 6.0 percent in the 2-year period; the number of males arrested for the same offense decreased 6.4 percent.
