  • Remote Sensing and Paleontology: On October 14, USGS Center for Biological Informatics scientist Ralph Root will present a paper on the potential for using remote sensing technology as an aid for finding undiscovered paleontological resources. Root will present "Locating and Mapping Potential Fossil Occurrences using Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems" at the 5th Conference on Fossil Resources, hosted by the National Park Service, USDA Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, and the North Dakota Geological Survey.
