OPM Director Joins Employees to Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month

U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Director Janice Lachance today joined OPM employees and their children to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.

To commemorate this year's theme "Children: Our Hope for the Future," Sonia Manzano, who plays "Maria" on the popular children's program "Sesame Street" appeared and spoke to the employees and their children. Manzano stated that tomorrow's leaders are today's children and care should be taken to expose them to a diverse and multi-cultured world.

In her remarks today, Director Lachance added "Diversity in our government is not something we do only for the benefit of our minority communities; it is something we do for the good of our entire nation."
