--MEDIA ADVISORY--
Washington, D.C. American parents face a daily challenge: finding quality and affordable child care.
In response to this issue and to President Clintons March 10, 1998, directive to provide a nationwide forum to showcase model public- and private-sector solutions on child care needs, OPM will sponsor a summit in Kansas City, Missouri. The three-day event will bring together educators, child development experts, and leaders in quality workplace initiatives from around the country to address problems facing American working parents who are striving to balance the demands of work and family life.
EVENT: | Affordable, Quality Child Care: An Employer Issue |
WHEN: | Wednesday, May 12 through noon Friday, May 14 |
PLACE: | The Westin Crown Center 1 Pershing Road Kansas City, Missouri |
OPM Director Janice R. Lachance will kick-off the summit on May 12 when she will discuss the growing need for quality and affordable child care and its role in increasing worker productivity. The agenda includes plenary presentations and panel discussions on cutting-edge ideas, public/private child care models, quality infant/toddler care, family-friendly workplace strategies and more.
