New HR Classification Standards Pave the Way For Improved HR Services |
Washington, DC --The U.S. Office of Personnel Management has issued new classification standards that cover the work performed by more than 30,000 specialists and assistants in HR throughout government.
"These new standards are based on extensive consultations between OPM and other federal agencies," said OPM Director Janice R. Lachance. "They reflect the significant evolution that has occurred in human resources management systems and programs."
The new standards update the roles and services that HR experts provide, which include:"I am very proud of these new classification standards because they recognize the very important work that HR professionals do," said Lachance. "And they are just one more example of how OPM provides leadership to the HR community, who are increasingly recognized as key players in any agency's successful strategic planning efforts."
OPM oversees the federal work force and provides the American public with up-to-date employment information. OPM also supports U.S. agencies with personnel services and policy leadership including staffing tools, guidance on labor-management relations and programs to improve workforce performance.
