DI News:

ALBANIA

DI is working in Albania to support the election commssion in advance of elections scheduled for June 28, 2009. DI is assisting with training of election officials, voter education, and establishing a vote count monitoring and preliminary results reporting system.


ECUADOR

DI is advising on a parallel vote tabulation for April 2009 elections in Ecuador. DI Principal Glenn Cowan traveled to Quito for the program in March.


KOSOVO

DI is conducting a mid-term evaluation of the Effective Municipalities Initiative in Kosovo. DI's team is conducting fieldwork in April.


INDONESIA


DI Principal Eric Bjornlund is working with The Carter Center on a program to monitor April national elections in Indonesia. DI previously completed its third annual Public Opinion Survey in Indonesia for USAID, and DI Senior Advisor Alan Wall conducted briefings at USAID, the U.S.-Indonesia Society, and elsewhere in Washington in March. DI also continues to work with International Relief and Development on the "SERASI" conflict resolution program.


TIMOR-LESTE
Timor-Leste

DI continues to work in Timor-Leste to help local institutions to conduct Public Opinion Surveys and develop Quantitative Research Skills. DI is working with local partners to conduct research addressing the performance of local government councils and, with the Cultural Change Institute at Tufts University, to study how cultural values affect development initiatives.


COLOMBIA

During the fall of 2008, DI conducted a comprehensive evaluation of USAID/ Colombia's human rights program, the Agency's largest human rights program in the world.


NIGERIA

 

 

In December 2008, DI conducted an evaluation for USAID of the Advocacy, Awareness and Civic Empowerment  (ADVANCE) program in Nigeria.


Democracy International holds two indefinite quantity contracts (IQCs) as a prime contractor with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID):

As career democracy and governance professionals, the principals of Democracy International have broad experience and a record of accomplishment, both in the U.S. and abroad.
