The reactor is currently in SAFSTOR. All fuel has been removed from the ship. The Nuclear Ship (NS) Savannah has been removed from the Maritime Administration Reserve Fleet in the James River, Virginia. On May 8, 2008, the N.S. SAVANNAH was shifted from Hampton Roads/Norfolk, VA to Baltimore, MD. The vessel is now layberthed in Baltimore, MD.

Removed from service 1970. Fuel removed from ship October 1971.
