NRC TO MEET
WITH PUBLIC ON OYSTER CREEK DRY CASK STORAGE |
||
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission
staff will meet with the public in Lacey Township, N.J., on Tuesday evening,
March 26, to discuss plans to store spent nuclear fuel in a dry cask facility
at the Oyster Creek nuclear power plant.
The meeting will be held at the Lacey Township Middle School, 660 Denton Avenue in the township's Forked River section. From 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., NRC staff will be available at an open house to individually address questions from members of the public. The meeting will formally begin at 6:30 p.m. At that time, NRC staff will describe the regulatory program related to interim dry storage of spent nuclear fuel at an independent spent fuel storage installation, as well as the regulatory requirements and oversight that apply to the proposed installation at Oyster Creek. Following the staff's presentations, there will be an opportunity for the public to ask questions. The length or number of questions or statements may be limited to allow the maximum number of people to participate. Those desiring an opportunity to speak will be asked to sign in at the meeting. |
