Printable Version PDF Icon

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission is soliciting comments from the public and state, local and tribal officials regarding a research/test reactor decommissioning plan submitted by the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System. The operating license for the reactor was granted to the VA Medical Center in Omaha, Neb., in 1959. The reactor, with a power level of 20 kW, was permanently shut down in 2001.

Comments should be provided by Feb. 17, 2005 to: Patrick M. Madden, Chief, Research and Test Reactors Section, New, Research and Test Reactors Program, Division of Regulatory Improvement Programs, Mail Stop 012-G13, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Washington, D.C., 20555-0001.

A copy of the decommissioning plan application (Accession Number ML042740512) is available electronically through the NRC’s online library, ADAMS, at: http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html. Help in using ADAMS is available from the NRC Public Document Room, at (301) 415-4737 or (800) 397-4209.
