To inquire from the General/Limited Liability Partnership (GEN/LLP) Main Menu, click on the inquiry function you wish to use. A screen will appear for you to enter the search string you wish to inquiry. When the search string is entered, press the SUBMIT button.

EXAMPLE:

To look up SMITH, JONES, & JONES LLP by its name,

Click on the PARTNERSHIP NAME selection,

enter SMITH JONES & JONES LLP in the search string field,

then press the SUBMIT button.

All of the inquiries except inquire by document number, will result in a screen of names or FEI numbers beginning with the closest record to the key you entered. The exact name or number you entered may or may not be present on the list.

To see the detail of any record on the list, click the selection that corresponds to that record. A detail screen of that record will be displayed.

You do not need to enter the entire name for the key. If you want to look up a GEN/LLP named 'THE FIRST APARTMENTS OF THE SOUTHWEST, LTD, L.L.P.', you may enter any portion of the name as the key in the search string field.

EXAMPLE:

You might choose to enter 'THE FIRST APART' as the key on the search string field.

If the key is the name of an individual, you should enter last name, first name, middle initial or a portion thereof. PUNCTUATION IS OPTIONAL.

EXAMPLE:

If you are looking for JOHN A. DOE, you may enter the name as

DOE, JOHN A, OR EVEN DOE, J

You will want to enter enough of the name to position yourself in the file near the name you want without typing any more characters than necessary.

If you are inquiring by document number and a document does not exist with that exact number, you will get an error message: RECORD NOT FOUND.

This transaction provides a list of partnership names. It also includes the status and the type of filing, such as partnership (GEN) or limited liability partnership (LLP), of each record.

This list will not include partnership name until January 1, 1996.

EXAMPLE:

To inquire about a GEN/LLP named ABC LIMITED LLP

select the PARTNERSHIP NAME selection button,

type ABC LIMITED LLP in the Search String field,

then press the SUBMIT button.

To see the detail for any record, click on the selection that corresponds to the record you wish to see. The format of the data presented will be the same as inquiring by document number.

This transaction provides a list of FEI Numbers beginning with the number entered or the next closest number to the key entered. The list also includes the name and document number of the GEN/LLP related to the FEI Number. There may be multiple general partnerships or limited liability partnerships listed for one FEI number.

EXAMPLE:

To inquire about a filing by the FEI NUMBER 59-1234567

press the PARTNERSHIP FEI NUMBER selection button,

type 591234567 in the Search String field,

then, press the SUBMIT button.

To see the detail for any record, click on the selection that corresponds to the record you wish to see. The format of the data presented will be the same as inquiring by document number.

This transaction provides a list of the registered agents and partners beginning with the name entered or the next closest name to the key entered. The list also includes the name of the partnership, the type of registration whether a GEN or LLP, and whether an agent or a partner.

EXAMPLE:

To inquire about a partner named JOHN A. DOE

select the GEN/LLP PARTNER/AGENT NAME selection button,

enter DOE, JOHN A in the Search String field,

finally, press the SUBMIT button.

The name of the agent or partner should be entered last name first. A partial key may be entered. FOR EXAMPLE: JOHN A DOE MAY BE ENTERED DOE J. PUNCTUATION IS NOT REQUIRED.

To see the detail for any record, click on the selection that corresponds to the record you wish to see. The format of the data presented will be the same as inquiring by document number.

The agent/partner name used as the key will not display on the first detail screen unless the key is the registered agent.

This transaction provides detail information on the actual filing of a general partnership or limited liability partnership requested by using a document number. If the requested document number is not found the error 'RECORD NOT FOUND' will be displayed.

EXAMPLE:

Select the DOCUMENT NUMBER selection button,

enter LLP950000005 in the Search String field,

then, press the SUBMIT button.

The first screen contains general information about the filing including the document number, name, file date, principal address, the name and address of the registered agent etc. Information on individual data items can be found in the Definition of Data Items Sections.

From the GEN/LLP detail screen, scroll down to the section titled "Document Images". There you will notice hyperlink listings of the images available for the filing. This section will also inform you if there are no images available for the filing.

Displaying an image
After you have selected a hyperlink associated with an image, you can then open or view the image on your screen.
