The report includes an update on the data trends, a summary of key challenges and current strategies, and suggestions for next steps to enable further progress toward achieving the objectives. The Office of Population Affairs announces the availability of funds for cooperative agreements under the Embryo Donation and/or Adoption Awareness program. The purpose of this funding is to increase the public's awareness of the use of frozen embryos as a family building alternative. Alicia Richmond Scott has been appointed as the Acting Director for the Office of Adolescent Pregnancy Programs (OAPP). Ms. Scott also serves as a Public Health Analyst with OAPP. She has worked in the Office of Population Affairs (OPA) for more than 10 years where she monitors AFL prevention and care demonstration grants. In addition to her project officer responsibilities, she provides policy and program development in areas such as teen pregnancy and reproductive health to the office and leads the annual grantee conferences and evaluation projects. Between fiscal years 2005-2007, the Office of Population Affairs (OPA) made a series of research awards through two standing announcements-one for Title X Service Delivery Improvement research and one for Title XX Adolescent Family Life research. These announcements invited and funded research proposals, on an annual basis, for three years. A new Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) - PAR-08-999 - is posted on http://www.Grants.gov. Under this FOA, OPA intends to make available approximately $750,000 to support 3-4 new grants in the years 2008, 2009, and 2010.
