2008 Director’s Community Leadership Awards

Seattle, Washington
Brad Richmond
Detective, Spokane County Sheriff’s Office
2008 Director’s Community Leadership Awards

Detective Brad Richmond has worked in the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office for 13 years. Detective Richmond is currently assigned to the Spokane Violent Crimes Gang Enforcement Team (SPVCGET). The SPVCGET is a joint local initiative composed of the Spokane Police Department; Spokane County Sheriff’s Office; Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI); Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF); and the Washington State Department of Corrections. Detective Richmond has acted as the co-case agent with FBI Special Agent Stanley Meador in an investigation that has identified over 50 gangs operating within the region.

Detective Richmond worked tirelessly in a successful 18-month investigation that resulted in multiple indictments and over 40 federal crimes against 24 members and associates of the Crips and Gangster Disciples gangs. Detective Richmond played a vital role in the organization and execution of a massive law enforcement operation involving more than 175 federal, state, and local authorities. This was the largest law enforcement action in Eastern Washington history. Twenty of the defendants were arrested in the Spokane area, and over 25 federal search warrants were executed in connection with these arrests.

Detective Richmond’s exceptional drive, dedication, and experience in the area of law enforcement have also allowed him to focus on the prevention and awareness of drug and gang violence, which has made a significant impact on the Spokane community. In addition, Detective Richmond assisted in developing better relationships among various law enforcement agencies to mount a more effective attack against drug and gang violence.
