WEBER RECEIVES 'EXEMPLARY ACHIEVEMENT' AWARD
Michael F. Weber, a branch chief at the Nuclear Regulatory
Commission, has received the 1996 William A. Jump Award for Exemplary
Achievement in Public Administration, given annually for outstanding
performance in the Federal service.
He was selected for this year's award by the William A. Jump
Memorial Foundation in recognition of his sustained, high caliber
managerial performance in the regulation of low-level radioactive waste
and decommissioning of nuclear facilities. The Jump Award was
established in 1950 to recognize exemplary service by younger staff
members of Federal agencies.
The presentation was made at the recent annual awards ceremony at
the Department of Agriculture in Washington.
Mr. Weber has been chief of the NRC Low-Level Waste and
Decommissioning Projects Branch, Division of Waste Management, since
March 1995. A graduate of Pennsylvania State University, he joined NRC
in 1982 as a hydrogeologist, and was a technical assistant to the NRC
Chairman from 1989 to 1991. He received NRC's Meritorious Service Award
for Scientific Excellence in 1993.
