NRC NAMES NEW SENIOR RESIDENT INSPECTOR
AT SURRY NUCLEAR POWER PLANT
Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in Atlanta have announced the assignment of
Randy Musser as the agency's Senior Resident Inspector at the Surry nuclear power plant, located
near Surry, Virginia. He succeeds Morris Branch, the Senior Resident Inspector at the Surry
plant since 1991.
Before joining the NRC, Musser worked at the Charleston Naval Shipyard in the Nuclear
Engineering Department as a shift refueling engineer. He joined the NRC in 1987 as a resident
inspector at the Hatch nuclear plant. Since 1992, Musser was assigned as a resident inspector at
the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant, where he was the lead resident inspector monitoring the restart
of Browns Ferry Unit 3. He received a Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering and a U.S. Coast
Guard Third Assistant Engineer's License from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
Musser officially became the Senior Resident Inspector at the Surry plant on August 30,
joining NRC Resident Inspectors David Kern and Keith Poertner. The NRC inspectors at the
