NRC OFFICIALS TO MEET WITH TVA
AT WATTS BAR NUCLEAR PLANT ON MAY 10
Meeting Is Open To Public Observation
Senior managers from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission are
scheduled to
meet with TVA's top nuclear officials at the Watts Bar nuclear
power plant near Spring City, Tennessee on Friday, May 10 at 1:00
p.m. (EDT) to discuss TVA's power ascension test program and
associated activities at the plant.
The meeting will be held in the Energy Connection visitor
center at Watts Bar and will be open to observation by the public
and the press. NRC officials will be available at the meeting's
conclusion to answer questions from observers related to the
subjects discussed.
Watts Bar Unit 1 received an NRC license to conduct low-power tests on November 9, 1995. Fuel loading began on November
11, 1995 and was completed on November 13. The plant received a
full power license from the NRC on February 7 of this year and
has been conducting power ascension tests at levels of up to 98
percent.
