NRC REGIONAL ADMINISTRATOR
TO HOLD NEWS CONFERENCE IN RICHLAND
L. Joe Callan, Regional Administrator of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission Region IV
in Arlington, Texas, will hold a news conference on Wednesday, May 15, in Richland, Wash.
Mr. Callan will meet with reporters at approximately 12:30 p.m. at the Walkley Room of
Washington Public Power Supply System headquarters on George Washington Way in Richland.
He will discuss NRC regulatory activities, the status of Washington Nuclear Project-2, and then
will entertain questions.
The news conference will follow a meeting of an NRC oversight panel with WNP-2
managers. That meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Walkley Room and will be open to the
public for observation. The oversight panel was created in September to independently monitor
and assess efforts to improve performance at WNP-2.
The news conference is one in a series that administrators of NRC's four regions conduct
periodically across the nation.
